About Us

I at The House of Cakes believe that “A recipe has no soul. We, as cooks, must bring soul to it” Inspired by these wonderful lines by Thomas Keller.

I started baking in 2008. I remember a day from my childhood, a relative, a baker by profession sent a cake for my family. It was a Dry Fruit cake packed with nuts and chocolate. Looked usual, but when I took my first bite, it didn’t just fill my mouth with flavors but also fed my soul, and I thought to myself that I would recreate something like that one day.

Amidst life’s twists and turns, the childhood dream took a back seat, but I found my inspiration once again in my elder son who enjoyed eating my chocolate cakes and muffins. On his birthday eve, when I asked him what he wanted as a present, to my surprise, he smiled and said, ‘A cake baked by my mom’.

The feeling moved me so much that I began my journey of baking for my family to baking professionally with that birthday cake, and I haven’t turned back. It was hard initially to restart. Took me hours to make the whipped cream but the smiles and compliments that I have received for every cake that I created were worth it all.

My Name is Rashmi Kumar, and I am a Commerce Graduate. Baking a good dessert makes me feel like I have the power to bring joy to the tips of my fingers. Suddenly, the people around the table are no longer strangers but family who share the magic with me. So be a part of my family and allow me to experience the delight to make your special day sweet and complete.
